Hi All,

So I've had Dell D series laptops at work, and toshiba and HP consumer laptops at home. The "business" class laptops are sure built like tanks (metal not plastic), am dockability is nice.

However, my question:

1. What do you think of the new docking stations that are coming out for the consumer laptops (i.e. HP bx4)
- have they worked for you, are they junk?

2. Do you own an "Business" class laptop - dell D630 - for ex. or a Consumer laptop and why?

Look forward to your responses....

you want a car that lasts? look what police and cab drivers are driving.
you want laptop that lasts? get what professionals use (a workhorse).

so far i've changed about 20 laptops (most of them used for work, we get the top line and change them every 18-24 months). in the last 8 years i only used business models (D800 series, M4300, M4400). in *MY* experience, consumer products are plastic toys (laptops sold though big chains like bestbuy, tiger etc.).
the last HP (currently used by my wife) is perfect example. 8 months ago $750 out of window, twice sent back to replace motherboard, thing is burning on your lap (no wonder battery can't last), no dedicated video memory or accelerator. i bet that used 3-year old D620 (sold for $300, C2D, 2.xGHz 2GB RAM, video card, DVDRW) and fitted with new battery, HDD and keyboard is not just cheaper but it will will work better and walk all over much newer HP Pavilion. btw. just look at the rating of that hp dock. :sarcastic:
