In terms of gaming mice, The old 125hz barrier is history.

Shows how to change the file usbport.sys to allow for 500hz, as well as 1000hz (which the author seemed to imply was perhaps iffy).

this works without any problems for everyone I know who has tried it.

When faced with the improved resolution of the mx1000, versus the report rate of 2ms with my mx510, I am gonna go with the mx510 faster report rate unless someone can clearly post why not?

The mouserate.exe confirms the change is effective on my computer.

As I understand it, the mx1000 only reports over its wireless connection at 125hz?

So for this gamer, that mouse is ruled out for now.
