Power on off problem in hp laptop

Hello, I am having HP DV6 laptop and I am facing problem with it. When ever I switch off the power all lights gets on and immediately gets off and it repeates itself without pressing the power button on again... Also issue is getting corrected by itself after removing battery and letting it like this for 5-10 min.. Please help..

Does it do that when it's running solely on A/C power (with battery removed)?
If no, then you probably need to buy a new battery as they do not last indefinitely, especially if they are left attached to the laptop for long periods whilst using the laptop on A/C power.
