Hi,

I have a alienware M9700 running SLI'ed ATI cards.

When i turned it on at the weekend the POST screen came up as if it wasn't resizing the image (only showed a faction of it) and then brings up an error message.

I suspect that a fan might have gone on one of the graphics card and fried it. Does this sound likely or is it more likely something else that has failed considering it does show something if not a lot.

Cheers
Steve.

You say there was an error message...but you don't say what it was?

Error messages exist for a reason - that being they tell you what's wrong.

Yeah I know, but i was (and still am) posting from work so don't have the laptop in front of me.

It says something like 'fatal disk read error' but I assume the odd bios image can't be caused by a HDD failure.

I will try removing the disc and see what happens.
