ok, reading some reviews, it actually seems like the laptop you suggested has some major problems. overheating, freezing, etc. The Toshiba seemed to be more reliable...
is this total crap, or should i stick with the Toshiba
I read about 10 pages of reviews on it, and only found 2 where people complained it overheated, and 1 where it froze up. I wouldn't put overheating past the machine - it's got a higher end graphics card and a cheap price tag - but I've heard lots of good things about it. I think you'll find this true with every notebook - they all have defective units. Best Buy's customer reviews portion shows that over 90% of the people who bought the gateway recommend it...whereas for the toshiba, only 4 people actually wrote reviews! Now, this is only to serve as to say to you - though it might seem more reliable, you really don't have a sampling size large enough there to show any real trends.
Enough of my ramble! I think the gateway is an excellent machine, and we've been recommending them for ages on this forum. Some people come back saying they're crud - some do the opposite. IMO, it's a fine machine, and unbeatable for the price - the toshiba just can't match it in computing power. However, you think the toshiba is a bit of a safer bet...but, it's up to you!
