Problem with second HD

when windows is booting, the hard drive (i think) makes this sound like the fans are restarting or like the cd drive is spinning and it wont boot. sometimes it will happen when the comp is on and everything will freeze and then i have to restart. i dont know what to do....i cant boot with the second hard drive connected. I have lots of important files on that disk. I need some advice

Some more information would be helpful. are you able to get in to windows sometimes or are you unable to boot? Can you get into the bios? When you boot up the fans would start unless there's no power so that seems normal. Cd's in the drive usually spin up when you're booting so no surprise there. Is your drive clicking? the proof in the details.
