Somehow I did someething so my screen on my dell inspiron E1705 has rotated 90 degrees. How do I get it back to the usual orientation?

I hope you mean the computed screen, and not the physical screen. Just go into your video control panel (nvidia or ati or intel) and it should have a setting for screen rotation.
