BSOD 124 and Random Freezes

Hey guys.


Well my pc is a: Amd Phenom II x6 1100-T Black Edition
16gb ram 1333

Amd Radeon HD 6850 1gb


I have Guild Wars 2 and Allods ( the problem started much sooner then installing either.. so they are not the problem)

But i KEEP GETTING random freezes(not even mouse works i have to restart pc) and BSOD with 124 or even 7F at the end.

by: playing GW2 or any game.

By: simply talking to my GF using msn webcam

By: simply browsing things and goofing around internet.


Its not a virus or anything.

Had runned MEMTEST 86+ for about 17 HOURS with all my cards and NONE got problem

Also those are Kingston ram for my exact MOBO never had any problems my pc has 1 year now and its driving me crazy (having this like twice or maybe more on a bad day) DAILY getting this.

My mobo: ECS Elitegroup A885gm-a2.

What is curious is that at somedays it can even pass like 4 days without crashing or anything

Like 3 days ago, it did a BSOD i got pissed, opened up pc, and pulled out my radeon card, and putted into it again, now by screwing it hardly on the sockets and all ( was trying to see if it bad contact or something)

And it worked beautiful for 3 days... now it started again.


Please help me as i am on the brink of my sanity here.

Go into the power profiles,
set standby, hibernate and sleep to OFF
leave the monitor standby ON, that's OK
Set the Hard Drive standby to NEVER
Set system Performance to MAXIMUM, not "quiet mode."

Open the bios set up and make sure "cool and quiet" is OFF.

Now open the hardware manager profiles...
click start
click computer
click system properties
click device manager
double click on mice and other pointing devices
right click on HID compliant mouse
left click on properties
click on the power management tab
UN-check the box that says: "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." (there is now NO check mark in this box)
click OK

Now repeat this procedure for all mice, keyboards, and ALL USB ports on the device manager list.

You must open ALL the devices one at a time, as above, and turn off the power saver, for each device.

The computer is turning off your mouse, keyboard, USB ports, to save power...
It's a bug in the OS set up.

Everything other than this was already setted by default like you said to me.


My bios doesnt show the cool and quiet...

so i cant find it.

I have tried updating every driver when i was on device manager but they were all up to the date.

the thing you asked me to uncheck they were already GRAYED and UNCHECKED on every device you asked me to.


So i really dont know what to say mate.

A hard lockup is generally a mobo/RAM related issue. 0x124 BSOD's also point to HW related problems.

First and foremost: Remove any OC, and ensure temps are within acceptable ranges.

After that, remove half your RAM and run using ONLY two sticks. Its possible the mobo is having problems pushing all four sticks of RAM. If that solves the problem, then a minor voltage bump to the northbridge/RAM may be required.

Failing then, run Prime95's blend test for a bit and see if that crashes [watch temps!].
