How nice of them to take all that we've been saying here on the forum and put it into an article. :)

Some notes...

I noticed talk about noise in movies. I am still at a loss as to what this is all about. I understand that badly implemented overdrive/underdrive can cause pixels to appear a wildly different color for a brief second (resulting in noise). However, this is an overdrive issue, not a panel type issue. The article seems to indicate that different panel types are better than others. So, what is this so called noise and what causes it and why are the different panels different in this regards?

Once again mention is made of the AMVA... I wonder if this will turn out to be as good as the IPS is not having color shift.

The article made mention of the use of LEDs.... What I don't understand is why they are so expensive. LED lights are fairly cheap (in cents); so why couldn't someone just retrofit their own monitor with leds if they wanted to? Are they some kind of special leds? Do yo have to use an insane number of them to achieve the proper brightness?

The article never mentioned the "pixel shifting" that occurs during movie playback on LCD monitors. I find it odd that no review sites mention it (unless maybe behardware does, and calls it something else). Have you ever noticed that video that uses overlays will have lines that shift back and forth even if the video is paused?

Could we do a class action for plagiarism?

Hose, can you confirm that all LCD panels have that pixel shifting/moving back and forth on videos that user overlay? ...or is this panel defective? (I personally see no reason why the monitor should do that anyways.)

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that...

Well I can't confirm that all panels do that, but my P-MVA-equipped Fp241W does it: scared me (too) when I first noted it... :P

Secondly, I sometimes notice the same effect on horizontal lines in games. I was annoyed one evening at the jaggies I was witnessing in one particular game and the wondered why the dmaned line was moving back & forth... :o

I have never noticed the issue in anything except movies that use overlay -- apps that use standard methods of sending data to the monitor are fine (which is basically everything else almost). BTW, you can change your movie apps to not use overlay and and it gets rid of it.
