I have an LCD monitor that has a VGA cable running from it. My video card has both DVI and VGA output. I just hooked up an adaptor to the monitor's VGA cable and am now using the DVI output on my video card. The video quality looks better to me, but it may just be my imagination. Since I'm just using a VGA cable with a DVI adaptor is the quality really any better than VGA? Thanks.

just your imagination bub.

if you look at your DVI output connector, you'll see two distinct groupings of pins. one is a higher density pin output, and then one is just a few pins (usually has a cross in this side). well, that side, is just VGA analogue output anyways. so it has the same output at your regular analogue VGA
