I'm thinking of getting i45 based mobo (pe version probably from MSI) but have never had p4 system with ddr before -will it accept DDR400 working as 333 in most cases? what about this ecc memory-does it work with such mobos?

Most i845 boards support DDR400 operating at DDR333.

but what about ecc? does a non-ecc support i845 mobo accept ecc memory as a non-ecc? It was in such way with sdram ecc I think, but didn't have P4 yet...

It will probably work, with the ECC feature unrecognised. Are you seeing lower prices for ECC memory somewhere?
