take these 2 monitors into consideration: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824112007

one claims it can support 1080p but they both have the same specs. shouldn't the other one be able to do the same?

"Support", in this case, is a marketing term. As 1080p requires 1080 vetical lines of resolution and both of these have only 1050 vertical, NEITHER fully supports 1080p.
