Which one of these two should I choose? Also, why are the Acer specs so much better than Sony, but they are the same price?

I wouldn't say the Acer specs are so much better..they really aren't that much over the Sony. Sony's are expensive because Sony likes to think it's the Apple of PCs, which it is really not at all - their notebooks are junk.

What are you planning to do with the machine?

I am going to be using it for internet, dvds, light gaming and 1 heavy game (SIMS 3)

For those purposes, you won't notice a difference between the two at all.
