Hello I have a few questions for everyone. I am upgrading my comp with a new cpu, motherboard and ram. I would like to go with amd 3500+ cpu

After reading this article about motherboards and dual channel ram I got confused.

http://www6.tomshardware.com/mothe [...] index.html

so I have these questions :)

what is better dual channel or a single dimm?

if dual channel is better, is the corsair value select ram ok or what would you recommend for a system with a 3400+ 9800pro I would like 1gb of ram

Also with dual channel being used I guess I should go with the asus av8 mb?

or.... if I am totally going in the wrong direction (aside of going with amd, all you intel people) what is best mother board to go with the 3500+ for an upcoming graphics intense mmo, eq2....

lots of questions I would like to thank everyone who points me in the right direction in advance.

If your board supports dual channel (939 boards do, 754 boards do not), then dual channel will give you better performance by around 5%, so get 2 dimms and do dual channel.

forgot to answer the rest of your questions :)

A64's reportedly like low latency better. If you're not going to OC, then any name brand PC3200 (corsair is good) should work fine, with the lower latency's better.

Don't have any experience with A64 mobos, so the current 'party line' here (LOL) is a board with NForce3 250. Some say Asus is good, some don't like it. MSI somtthing NEO2 is repeated often as a good board here. So is Gigabyte and a couple other mfgs.

More important than the mobo for eq2 is the graphics card. I have an XP3200 (not A64) (well, 2600 oc'd to 3200 speeds) with an R9600XT and I'm running the beta without any lag/problems even in a raid fight. (I was MT, so I'd better not have lag...) I don't have all the eye candy turned on, but have it set to default values. If you're getting a 6800 or x800 GPU you should be good.
