Hi Keith,
If you want to be 100% sure, go to a Staples store and ask to see the power supply that comes included with the HP laptop. Read the fine print on the supply and make sure it's rated for at least 220V.
You can buy a power bar in China that will convert Canadian plugs to Chinese style plugs. These power bars are commonplace, easy to use, and can be found in every supermarket.
(Be careful if you bring speakers to go with your laptop...I brought some from Canada and they exploded....I forgot to read the label, they were only rated up to 120
