i do not have dual channel capabilities and would like to stay at the $200 1gig range. is this good for my budget or would you reccomend something else.

also i dont plan on o/cing seeing that my mobo doesnt have support for o/cing mem or cpu :(

btw specs:
2.8b
evga 6800
512 pc-2700 kingston
ibm modded intel 865p

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the P4 2.8b 533fsb? If so your current ram is overkill so you would definatly not need to buy higher speed ram. 533fsb chips only need PC2100 DDR to begin with. If you did go for the 3200 you could run it at some VERY low latencies :)

I'd wait and buy the RAM when you buy the rest of the comp. Who knows what crazy stuff is going to come out in a year that you might want to buy.

FYI..
For Intel 865P chipset, you get the best performance using
two double-sided DIMMS in dual-channel (in dynamic mode).
OR for PC-2700 4 SS-DIMMS is just as good.

If you do not have a dual-channel setup, then you will get the best performance by arranging 2 DIMMS, one in each channel (single or double sided doesnt matter). (Dynamic mode)
