I have a Fortissimo 3 7.1 sound card, and have had it working on two previous systems. About a month ago, I updated my system to a new motherboard (asrock k7v88) and went to win xp pro service pack 2 (from winxp pro sp1) and now my rig is all messed up. When I go to instal the fortissimo card with the hercules drivers, I use the latest exe from hercules, 6.09 and I disconnect my internet like you have to with the card; then I follow through the install. As soon as windows actually tries to load the sound card's drivers, the computer locks, and will not respond to anything but a hard restart. Furthermore, it will not load windows on reboot, and gets stuck at the opening screen where it loads drivers. The only way to fix my computer is to physically remove the card. When I went to instal the card, I made sure my onboard sound was disabled in the bios, and disconnected my internet connection. Is this just a driver problem that I can't solve? Can anyone help, any info would be appreciated
