I somehow told my laptop to ask me for a password everytime I boot. I have not been able to NOT have a password. Somehow in the Bios I did this and I must ahve hit the wrong "OK". It is a Gateway. Any clues how I can get my laptop to boot without asking for a password? Thanks
If you can remember the P/W there will be a way to change it in the BIOS settings. Without the make and model it is hard to say where this setting is though (Usually in a security menu).
If you can not work out where it is just give the laptops manufacturers support line a call and they should be able to talk you through it.
If you can not remember the P/W then you need to give the manufacturer a call to reset the BIOS P/W (They will usually want POP before they will do this). Sometimes they will take it to a repair centre, sometimes they can assign a code to reset the BIOS P/W.
I appreciate the response.
I have the password at boot and I can get my computer started and I can get into the Bios. And when I go into the bios, it does not let me stop the asking for the password so that the computer will just boot and go into windows. Does that make sense?
