I'm taking a working gap year before Uni in a few months and will be needing a new gaming system, my original plan was a £500 gaming desktop build + £2/300 notebook for portability and word processing when I get to Uni; I'm looking to get a laptop that can do both - gaming when I'm at my flat and portable enough to drag to lectures.

1) What is your budget?
£7-800

2) What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
15.4/17

3) What screen resolution do you want?
1600x900; I'd prefer a higher screen res to show off the graphics but I'd be prepared to skimp here to fit into my budget.

4) Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Something between both, for gaming I'm not fussed if I have to use a few peripherals etc but I'd like a good battery life for low-CPU tasks, 3 hours would be good.

5) How much battery life do you need?
See above.

6) Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Definetly, I want to be able to play the latest titles at high-med settings, FA3, Oblivion, Crysis etc etc.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, surfing the web, playing music, watching movies, Etc.)
I'll definetly be browsing, gaming and word processing on the laptop and I'll be looking to store my media on there too.

8) How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?
Circa 200GB would be good, I've found 160GB abit limiting

9) If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them.
I'm looking to buy from a UK vendor and wouldn't really want to ship the laptop, although if its from the US its a possibility.

10) How long do you want to keep your laptop?
I'd like this to last throughout my time at uni so 5 years, I'm not expecting high-end performance by the end of this but I want a well-made product with a solid case.

11) If you would like to mention some other things about purchasing your ideal laptop, post them.

12) Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I'm not too fussed about the company I buy from so long as they have a good reputation

13) What country do you live in?
UK

Thanks for any help you can offer me,
Cyrl
