The only thing that is mandatory is a screen so i can sort through my music. and i guess the more space i have the better. I'm more partial to WMA files than mp3

I have had very little trouble with my Creative player. I have a Creative Zen Micro and a Microphoto (the power switch on the micro was abused too much by me and it broke, but the player still works) the "killer app" is the removable battery, it lets you restart immedately without waiting for the battery to die (almost all players freeze once in their lifetime) and you can take one battery out for another one for twice the battery power. If you don't care for a colur screen, you can go for a micro:

Pretty much anything from creative is a good product. Oh, and if you can wait a little, they are releasing a new Stone player with a screen, 2Gb of storage, and is tiny-tiny for ~$70.

Sandisk Sansa e280 from newegg.com! It is a little over your price but it has 8gb compacicty with a radio, radio recorder, voice recorder, video capability, etc. Think about it.

or you have the new sansa view... you can get an 8 gig one for a little over 125.... the msrp is 150 but ive seen i lower.... and you can expand it by 8 gig.... and its a little better than the e280..... especially if you want something with a sleeker look and a much bigger screen... i think it would be worth the extra 25 bucks...
