I have just purchased my first laptop, I bought it mainly to connect to my sony xbr2 60" with an HDMI cable. When I connect the cable, I get a great picture on the screen but no audio. Was I wrong in assuming that the HDMI port would transfer sound the same as my other HDMI components do, or can someone help me with how to get it to work properly. I contacted HP and they could be of no help without charging me, the day after I spent 2,000 on their laptop. Now I know why I builc my own desktops. Thanks for the read, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would guess not unless it says it is HDCP compliant which I'm not sure the 7600GO cards or the HP laptops are rated for. I don't think you can pass HD video and sounds over an HDMI cable without HDCP-compliance, but I could be wrong.
