Hitachi/IBM or Western digitial for 250gb eide

Which drive OEM would be the better choice for 250gb eide? Thanks

If you like it quiet - Hitachi, if you like it fast - Hitachi, if you like it to be around for a loooong time - neither (but me prefer Hitachi anyway

Looks that Hitachi took over IBM in the HD market. Im seeing they are making the deskstar HD but so did IBM and there was a reason then for them to be called the "Deathstars." Is there a specific model of Hitachi I should look at?

Personally, I have had good luck with WD HDDs in the past. The older IBM "DeathStars" were terrible, but I think thats changed now that Hitachi manufactures them.

You should be able to find a review on Toms Hardware for HDDs. That will give you a good idea of which drive is better.

Im famaliar with the business side of the companies but not the products at the time.

Then get Hitachi and offer someone who you know to get a WD, and in couple of years see who wins ;o)

PS: my very own PC has deathstar gxp120-80g which is two years old and still outperforms newestest Seagate 120g and WD 180g drives, that's why I suggest it, otherwize don't listen to people who blah-blah too much, hehehe.
