Problem is I can't delete it.
It says "access denied" even from a reboot. Nothing else in the folder
and no programs using it.
I copied the parent folder & sub folder to another folder and I was
able to delete it from there. I forgot how I copied it but it wasn't a
drag & drop cause I don't think that works on this folder either.
Properties says that the folder and its parent are read only. I
changed the attribute on both folders but everytime I go back it still
shows read only set. But then all folders seem to show that and I have
deleted other files/folders from them.
at one time I got a file/path name too long for recycle bin error.
tried shift del. not!
can someone help please.
thanks

Path Too Long
To work around this problem, reduce the length of the path to less than 256
characters.
In Windows Explorer, select the folder one level above the folder that
returns the error. Right-click the folder returning the error and then click
Rename. Rename the folder to reduce the number of characters used in the
folder name.
Rename the folder so that the target files that are deeper than the MAX_PATH
no longer exist. If you do this, start at the root folder (or any other
convenient place), and then rename folders so that they have shorter names.
Rename subfolders in the path to a file so that the total path or file name
is less than the max_path setting or 256 characters. Start with subfolders
that are closer to the root so that you are always working with less than
256 characters.
You cannot delete a file or a folder on an NTFS file system volume

Hi Cher - From my Blog, addy in Signature below. I suspect that Delete
Invalid File will do what you need:
"Sometimes the tools below will find files which they are unable to delete
because they are in use.
A program called Copylock, here, http://noeld.com/programs.asp?cat=misc can
aid in the process of "replacing, moving, renaming or deleting one or many
files which are currently in use (e.g. system files like comctl32.dll, or
virus/trojan files.)"
Another is Killbox, here: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
A third which is a bit different but often very useful is Delete Invalid
File, here: http://www.purgeie.com/delinv.htm which handles invalid/UNC
file/folder name deleting, rather than the in use problem.
A fourth useful program is Unlocker, here:
..http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ " Simply right click the folder or file
and select Unlocker. If the folder or file is locked, a window listing of
lockers will appear. Simply select the lockers and click Unlock and you are
done!" Works as advertised and is particularly helpful in identifying
malware components which are 'protecting' each other."

Some good stuff there.
I was able to get it by reducing the parent name to 1 character.
I wish Windows would prevent this from happening in the first place.
