Ok so im starting University in September and im looking into buying a laptop for it, it needs to be portable with decent power usage (around 4-5 hrs will do fully charged).
My budget is 800 GBP.
Im also a bit of a gamer and would like some of my games (cod4 and tf2) to run smoothly on it if possible.
This is what iv been looking at:
I would upgrade the processor from T6400 2.0 ghz, to the P8600 2.40GHz for an extra 50 quid and might get the 320 gb HDD for another extra £14.
With these upgrades this laptop would cost £720, is that decent for the money? Will it run what i want it too? What about battery life?
Any other ideas on what to buy?
Iv decided to got for the Samsung Q310 Ass3, got a 2.4 ghz core duo, 320 gb hdd, 4gb ram, dedicated nvidea 9200 ms card.
All this for £650, its screen is only 13.3" so great for portability and it only weighs 2kgs.
It is kinda hard to find a gaming laptop with 4-5hrs battery life. You might wanna check if a geforce 9200MS is what you want for gaming because it's relatively weak.
This vendor accepts international shipping and the laptop comes standard with a 9 cell battery. Please take note the 9 cell battery sticks out at the back of the laptop.
I would recommend you to upgrade to this CPU for with 25Watts power consumption:
Intel® P8400 45nm "Montevina" Core™2 Duo 2.26GHz w/3MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 25 watt
Also to 4GB ram if you have a 64 bit windows. It doesn't come with an OS.
Upgrade to a 7,200 rpm HDD
I considered going back to my old choice due to the fact it has a Nvidia 9650M GT 1GB in it, and i can upgrade the processor to a 2.53 ghz 3mb one without going over my 800 budget, the site you linked me to is in dollars... will there no be issues with american laptops in the uk? I mean different power supply... dvd region codes?
They do international shipping, but how the fu** are they selling a Asus G50Vt for £390? I mean that laptop is usually £1000.
Should i buy from them? I dont think its a refurb and it says comes with a 2 yr global asus warranty.... On google reviews they have 4 out of 4 good ones.... Too good to be true?
Cheers
