I just bought a BenQ DVD-RW1620, but it doesn't work properly. I installed the DVD-RW, but everytime i tried to burn, it gives me a recording error message. BenQ tells they currently don't support the HP DVD+R 8X, but I read the article about the 10 Burners and Tom's Hardware test the BenQ DVD-RW with HP DVD+R, so I am now confused with rather it is the DVD problem or the DVD-RW problem.

Have you tried different speeds and or different media?
See if a friend will trade some media with ya. If it still doesn't work that thing is probably defective. I suggest trying to get your hands on some TDK +R media, I have yet to find a recorder or player that won't read them.
