I'm looking to upgrade my ram. I have an MSI K8TNeo-Fis2r. It doesn't support dual channel memory (thought it did, but can't find anything to back that up so I guess it doesn't). Anyways, I'm looking to get 2 sticks of 512 for a total of a gig of memory. I'm looking for DDR400 with a CAS of 2.

My question:

Would it be better to get a package of Twinx (Corsair) or just get 2 seperate sticks? They say that they're "specifically designed for motherboards using chipsets with dual memory channels." Will I have any problems with this since I don't have dual memory channels, or is there any benefit? Thanks all.

Mobo: MSI K8T NEO FIS-2R
CPU: AMD 64FX (2Gig)
OS: Windows XP pro SP2
HD: WD 80GB
HD: WD 180GB SE
Raid: 2xSeagate 80Gig Serial ATAs
RAM: 2x512MB DDR 400

Whichever costs less.

A pair like that is just 2 sticks that have (hopefully) been tested to be (nearly) identical. If you put them in a single-channel mobo, they'll work fine. It's hardly different (especially for single-channel use) than buying 2 sticks individually.

Go with matched pair, could be usefull if you upgrade to dual channel.
