Hey, a while ago i bought myself a new laptop and i just have not been satisfied with the performance it gives whilst gaming and i fear there might be some other factor causing this problem. heres the spec

Vista 32

Intel T9400
Nvidia 9600M GT 512mb
Ram : 4GB DDR3 800mhz
300GB hard drive space.

For example playing Counter strike source it runs slowly even on low settings, almost patchy.

any ideas? sould this spec run counter strike and other games better than im experiancing?

It should run any source engine based game flawlessly at medium/high settings.

Has it slowed down over time? Check your GPU and CPU temperatures. Dust inside your heatsinks may be forcing the hardware to downclock itself.

And, of course, make sure you're in 'high performance' mode while playing games.

any other ideas?

You need to test temps under load to see if they're limiting your performance. Run a game for a while and see what happens. Are you sure you put the computer in high performance when gaming?
