S-ATA problem

Hi all
Im trying to sort out this pc for a friend. its got 1
S-ATA hd and 1 IDE hd attached to the mobo, there is no data on the IDE hd, the problem is the mobo wont recognise the S-ATA hd without it.
It seems to work ok like it is but I need the molex thats running it to power some new fans.
its an MSI KT6V

It would be interesting question if it were no it... and of coarse I would answer it but can't without it.

What is the make and model of the SATA drive?

not sure what make hd it is not had a chance to pull it out yet.
Im going away for a week so I will post back when I get back
