Hey folks,

Anyone have this particular model? What I want to know is, according to specs, it should be able to read 4.7GB (120min)DVD -R CD's. I did the firmware update thing and it still can't read the DVD-R (empty). An original DVD, burnt DVD it can read but an empty it won't recognize. Is there something else I have to read on? I'm stumped.

My purpose is not to make illegal copies of original DVDs. I want to save my downloads on them.

What burner program are you using?

Hey Crash,

The one that came with the CD-ROM Nero eXpress 5.5.9.9

I upgraded to the demo version 6.6.0.1 and tried that but with the same results. I don't believe that the problem is in the software. DMA is activated and I just don't know why it won't recognize a blank DVD.

I don't really know, he never had problems with his. Are you certain the blank media is good?

Yeah, I tried each and every one on the package. I even tried a different brand that was blank. It can only read burned or original DVD but not empty.

Puzzling. I'll have to screw around with this if even you are stumped Crash. I'll let you know what/if I find out what it is.
