Replaced 3 power cords, laptop still not recognizing it

Hi, I've been having this problem the past few months. Whenever I plug my laptop in, I either have to push it in and hold it in for it to begin charging or it won't work at all. I've replaced 3 power cords thinking that was the problem but now I'm pretty sure something is wrong with my laptop. I emailed gateway for support and they said I would have to send it in. I am hesitant to do this because I use my laptop for my job. Any ideas?? Thanks!

My husband and I both have Gateway laptops (fairly new) and they both have the same problem as you have with yours. We get frustrated having to push and pull the cord to get it just right so it will charge the battery only to have to do it all over again if the laptop is moved even a little. We believe it must be an issue common to Gateway and therefore will not purchase Gateway in the future. Sorry I don't have an answer to help you. Hopefully someone will benefit from reading our posts and not buy Gateway.
