I want to purchase the X-box HD DVD player for my 360 to be able to watch the planet earth series but I was told by my friend that it would be worthless to do so if i do not own a HD TV with 1080P, the TV I own is only 1080I
Is he full of crap or is there some truth to this?
AFAIK, you'll be fine. 1080p is preferable to 1080i of course, but you will enjoy watching Planet Earth on your 1080i screen for sure! It should look super!
Funny, I am also considering buying the HD-DVD drive for my 360 so that I can get the HD-DVD version of Planet Earth!
Although I may hold off on buying an HD DVD player considering that Blue Ray has sold a 5:1 ratio over HD DVD players... I believe the signing of Blue Ray for Blockbuster video killed HD DVD.
For $200, get the HD DVD player. Planet Earth looks amazing on my 720p projector with HD DVD. Worse comes to worse, buy a Blue-Ray for $100-150
in a year or two if need be.
