Ok I live in Canada and I'm looking for the best speakers I could get for my new computer for 150$ at most. I would mainly use the speakers for listening to music, all kinds of music: symphonic, chamber, piano music, but also some contemporary stuff like electronica and ambient. I just need to be able to connect them to my computer. I've tracked the Klipsch ProMedia 2.0 and 2.1 and I might buy a 2.0 set on ebay tonight for about 70$ all included (shipping costs are insane).
I was of course wondering if the 2.1 set was really worth it, because it's much more expensive. I've tried a lot of 2.1 systems with lots of lower bass and some decent highs, but they all lacked middles and upper bass. All of them: creative, altec lansing, logitech. I can't stand them. From what I've read the Klipsch seemed much more balanced.
The second thing I'm wondering about is if I couldn't get much better quality out of non-computer speakers, maybe bookshelf speakers or a stereo system, the only thing is I don't know what can be connected and how to do it. I will get a Chaintek sound card with my computer.
