I have a Dell D430 laptop and 2 external monitors which I only want to use the 2 external monitors, with extended desktop display. I don't want to used the laptop display. I am using a vga splitter into the only external vga connection this laptop have and the computer is reading this as 1 monitor. I don't know what else to do and is it possible for me to use 2 external monitors as extended, not clone. Please help!

The connection only supports a single monitor - your splitter is not designed to splice video signals; it just copies them. You need this:
