Hi everyone, first time posting here, but I have looked up many answers over the years here, so I'm hoping someone can help.
I haven't kept up with laptop technology much over the last two years as I have been concentrating on the desktop. Basically I want a laptop that isn't a "gaming" laptop, meaning I don't want to pay for a $2500 alienware machine. What I really want is a 15 inch laptop with a good discrete videocard, but I don't really know which card to look for. I already know I'm shooting for about 6gb of RAM and I have been looking into SSD's but I don't know if that will really speed up the performance or not.
The only thing I know for certain is that I like the 15 inch over the bigger laptops and that I don't want an HP laptop (I can't stand the "glossy" touchpad...)
Does anyone here have any suggestions? You don't have to configure actual systems for me, I'd be happy with brand suggestions (Dell, Toschiba, etc) or certain parts that I should look for (like certain Nvidia cards, etc)
thanks in advance!

Just a few pointers. Any system running a 32bit OS (XP, Vista, ect) will not take full advantage of anything over 4GB (actually a bit over 3BG). If video is important to you, try looking for a laptop with an HDMI output and a discrete video card (which you wanted anyway). I'm not going to get into nVidia or ATI, as both have pro's and con's, but AMD usually has ATI and Intel will use nVidia. SSD's are quite expensive and usually used in top end models. Read up on it first as there are some heated debates on this tech.
Check out Asus if you haven't considered it yet. I've had one for over 7 years and still use it for surfing and email.
