I'll be building a new rig with these specs:

1)athlon 64 3000($149.00) or 3200 2.2 ghz socket 754($190.00 newegg)
2}512 mb pc3200 crusial ram($89.00 newgg)
3)ASUS "K8N" NVIDIA nForce3 Chipset ($84.00 newegg)
4)sparkle power 530 watt($74.00 newegg)
5)radeon 9700 pro 128mb($150.00 ebay)or 9800 pro(found refurbished one on newegg for around $164.00 , we'll see if they have it when i get ready to buy)
6)dvd drive($23.00 newegg)
7)maxtor 40 gig hd(already own
total=$579.00 or $620.00

I found 512mb pc 3200 ddr400 from kingmax for $65.00. I was thinking about sticking with the athlon 3000, and radeon 9700pro and geting 2x512mb kingmax stick mem=1024mb since it was cheaper. Out of all these parts i see the memory being the first thing that would need more of since i see most people buying 1 gig worth of ram for they're rig. This is for the family to play games and other forms of internet entertainment. But wont be playing doom3,half-life 2, mostly other games. Will this memory work for this Mobo and cpu? I saw some article about memory and mobos on this website but being new as i am to computers thread i did'nt really understand what they were talking about. Oh and i wont be overclocking the cpu at least. Want to sell that on ebay in the future.

Any DDR400-based memories will work with Athlons. However, I'd suggest you look at that Kingmax memory and try to find out its timings and CAS Latency values, the higher they are, the worse they'll perform.

I never owned a Kingmax memory so I can't tell if they're good or bad, but you may look into reviews on the web.

Come back when you get the values I told you about and we'll be able to help you further.

you could check this memory out. I just got a pair and it comes right out the package at the timings they said and it is very stable. Haven't tried OC'ing it yet. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-220-006&depa=1
