When I installed Half-Life 2 I was a little disapointed because I was only getting sound out of my center channel. I instantly looked up newer drivers and installed them. That got all 5 channels working perfectly in Half-Life 2. I can run the speaker test in CS Source and it does it's front left, center, front right, rear right, rear left, sub fine. But now in windows and everything else for that matter I only get front left, center, front right, sub. I run the driver speaker test and it only outputs sound for front left, center, frontright, sub. I only get those channels when playing other games, listening to music, watching movies, etc. The only place I get all 5 channels is in HL2, CS Souce, and HL Source.
When I revert back to the old drivers it goes back to full 5.1 in everything but HL2, CSS, and HLS (I only get center channel in them). Nothing changes when I reinstall the latest driver.
I'm using the onboard sound on my Gigabyte GA-8INXP motherboard. It is a Realtek ALC650 sound card. I tried the drivers direct from realtek and the ones off the gigabyte site.
I'm using a Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 surround system and Cambridge Soundworks FPS2000 Digital system via splitters.
I'm tempted to just buy an Audigy2 or something but the audio quality of the onboard is good enough if I can get it working.
More system specs can be found if you click the link on my sig, I'm on the pentium system.

I'd be happy to provide any more info that might be needed.
