Hi,

Click start/run, type dfrg.msc, then click ok, what happens?

There are two defrag tools in XP.

dfrg.msc is the pretty one that opens from
Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools.

defrag.exe the command line tool that runs in the command prompt.

If the shortcut in Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools is missing,
are there other shortcuts missing as well?

Restore shortcuts to the Accessories group

[[This utiity restores the missing shortcuts to the Start Menu Accessories
group. The Accessories group includes sub-folders namely Accessibility,
Communications, System Tools, Entertainment.]]

Download AccRestore v2.0 ~14Kb (for Windows XP only)
