Im looking to upgrade my system. Thinking of getting the ASUS p5gdc-v deluxe with the 915g chipset, Geforce 6600 GT, p4 3.0. I cant afford dual channel ddr2 ram (way to much). So I want to either get dc ddr (OCZ gold edition verz2) or a single channel ddr2 chip. Any info on which is faster or if Im on the wrong track?

from what i've read on the forums, the DDR2 memory still doesn't get as good of performance as the DDR. The latencies are too high, so you are better off going with DDR.

Dual PC3200 (normal DDR) gives a maximum theorectical bandwidth of 6.4GB/sec (which matchs the 800Mhz P4 bus perfectly). Even the fastest DDR2 (PC5300) only offers 5.3GB/sec in single channel mode.
Therefore DDR1 in dual channel will be better.

Also DDR1 has much better lantancies, is cheaper, and unless you get a p4 with a 1066Mhz bus the extra memory bandwidth will go to waste anyway.
