Both of these cameras seem to be very good.
I'm looking for a relatively light point-and-shoot camera that will take very good pictures.

Is the DMC-LX2 offer that much better image quality that it becomes a better buy than the DMC-TZ3K which has 10x zoom and is $100 less?

Less money is always good.

Well I can't say I'm an expert on digital camera but I do appreciate good quality pictures. Currently I have the Sony DSC-W1 digital camera and it's a good one. Though not the best in class but it match with my standards and is able to produce good quality image. Base on the selection, all is good to my standards and should be able to produce good quality photos as well. The lower priced one is I think for you, since it is mainly a point and click type with auto selection that will automatically adjust according to the lighting condition and stuff. The expensive allow for more better quality with more features and fine tweaking with exposure and filters. Like you said less money is always good and the DMC-TZ3K will be a user friendly for every use.

Im not planning on printing any pictures.

So the consensus is that the cheaper camera is good? Reviews say that neither lens has much distortion.

Any other good cameras for me? All the cameras that my family has are Canons:

Powershot A550
Powershot A520
Some other powershot
Canon Digital Rebel

This is a great site:

I found the DMC-LX2 using it a while ago. I really would like some user opinions on this. Im not so into photography now, but I want to leave room for later. Also, how good are the SDHC cards that can hold up to 4gb?
