Totally sorry for the noob question, but I tried searching Google and nothing definite about resetting my XPS M1330's power adapter came up.

Some background: The adapter started not providing power to my battery (conveniently just after my 1 year warranty expires! :heink ) so I got a replacement one. Found a vendor on eBay who sells Dell adapters, so I got one from him (at a much lower price, I might add).

And that's where I'm encountering the problem. The seller was kind enough to send me a replacement, so I'll see. In the meantime, does anyone know what the heck resetting a laptop power adapter means and involves?

Resetting? It's just a DC switching power supply, it's not like it runs software. It turns on, it turns off when you plug it in or unplug it. Maybe it's got a fuse or circuit breaker on the inside, but I doubt it.
