Hi

Ive been having some issues with my notebook since i upgraded the ram
used to have 2Gb 533mhz, now im using 2 x 2Gb 667mhz
problem is now i seem to have an issue with cold boots, it will start up normal but then get issues in explorer, either explorer does not work, firefox will give some error, most microsoft programs give errors.
after a while (+- 20min) it will blue screen then switch off, when i restart all the issues are gone, when running the notebook on the battery only this issue is constant
i ran memtest for over 5 hours with no errors, so now im back to square one, what could be the issue? i already formatted and reloaded few days ago hoping it might have been an OS issue but unfortunately not.

Any ideas would be helpfull

Acording to HP, your using the correct ram, and 4GB is supported. What your describing sounds like a RAM issue, especially if it only started after upgrading. You may have gotten a bad stick, but that doesn't explain the passing memtest..

Before you upgraded, were you using a single 2GB Stick, or 2 x 1GB sticks?

If originally it was a single stick, it may be an issue with the slot. You'll have to trouble shoot by using a single stick in each slot & see if it corrects the problem. If you can use the laptop error-free with a single stick, move it into the other slot and test again.

Hopefully, we can rule out a specific stick or slot in the process.
