Ok here's my problem. I have 2 hard drives in my system, one is an old Maxtor 6.4gb, and the other one is a newer 40GB 7200rpm drive. Anywho, I installed Partition Magic in Windows 98 on the old drive to partition my new drive into 4 partitions. I also used Partition Magic to format the drives as well. I installed WinXP on the new drive (on an active partition) and installed some drivers. My old Maxtor drive is the Primary Master, and the new drive is the Primary Slave, and I don't want it to be like this. I unplugged the IDE and power cable from my old drive and switched my new harddrive to Primary Master. Now when I try to boot up from the new harddrive I get the following error at startup: NTLDR not found, Hit CtrlAltDelete to restart. Please help!

if you install NT into a drive other than the current C:, it will place boot files on the current C:

Copy it off the old drive onto the the new one. Hopefully that will work. (it's hidden, BTW)

It's always the one thing you never suspected.

Go to the Microsoft Help and Support site and search for "NTLDR" for Windows XP. There was a couple of good looking results, I think. I'm sorry...that's the least I can do for now.

Not to worry! I'm now running XP without any problems! Now I just need to optimize it so I can squeeze out all the juice out of my hardware. =)

Nay, I already checked out that link, it didn't help much. It took a long time (and quite a bit of frustration), but I visited the Microsoft Technical Support site, and I found my answer. Hours later (Windows XP installing from DOS), I'm running XP, and it seems to be doing very well!

Can you enlighten me (everyone) what the solution was? I sure would appreciate it, especially for future reference.

Great job on finding a solution yourself! You're awesome!
