Hi, I've a good few programs that start on boot - firewall, AV, webshots,
audio utilities, and more. However, sometimes when my pc starts, it does not
load all applications on start, even though they are in the startup group or
in the boot.ini etc.

I am getting some errors in the Eventlog, such as
A parity error was detected on \Device\Ide\IdeChnDr1.

I actually have 4 physical hard disks in the PC, and all working normally.

Any ideas would be great.

They might appear to be working normally but at bootup your system is
working harder than normal. That error really sounds like a fault on the IDE
cable or with the IDE interface on one of the drives. Are you using standard
short 80 way cables or something fancy? Is your power supply upto the job of
driving 4 hard drives?

I'm using standard cables. All my drives work fine, but it's only at startup
that i get these errors.

All other times the drives are fine. I do defrag each disk each night.

It just bothers me that not all my startup apps actually start, and some I
have to start manually - especially my firewall and AV concern me.

Sometimes though, everything starts after a reboot.

When the PSU is heavilly loaded with 4 drives spinning up.

Well if it were me I''d make sure my backups were upto date.
