Hello

Can anyone recommend me a quality scanner. It has got to be fast and realiable. I am only looking for a scanner; not a muti function scanner. My budget is 600$. I would really appreciate if you can recommend a quality scanner.

Thanks.

Get a 2nd hand photocopier. The scanning speed is incredible and the machine is also reliable. But i don't see how a scanner is related to CPU.

Mostly i will scan letter/legal sized paper. It has got to be a flat bed. I am open for a high quality film scanner if it is within 600 $ or less . I am looking for a fast scanner at higher resolutions. There are so many scanners out there and i do not have much time to dig out all the info. I ask you guys' help and expertise.

Thanks.

Here's a high quality photo or film scanner http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=63056499
Epson Perfection v700
Price tag 549.99 with free shipping
6400 dpi resolution

If you're looking for something around 1200 dpi, the price is much lower ( around 100-200$ range )

Consumer product
http://www.canon.ca/english/index-products.asp?lng=en&prodid=1082&sgid=21&gid=2&ovr=1&epage=specifications
Optical: 2400 x 4800 dpi
60$-100$

Thanks. I will look into them later. If you were to buy a scanner within that budget, will you pick one of them that you have suggested to me. If you have other choices , please let me know. Thank you for your time and help.

Thanks.

It depends on exactly what you use them for. What resolution do you want the scanner to scan at and at what speed. If you care about name brands or not and if the scanner has good customer support. The scanner you buy depends on its purpose and your desire.

you said:

which i assume you're not buying it for a company and does not require the top of the line scanner. So I would suggest the CanoScan LiDE70 because its cheap, fast, stylish and acceptable performance.

I'm using a Hp laser jet 3030 as my scanner. There's a function called auto feed, meaning that if you have stacks of paper that you want to scan, then you don't have to feed them manually. Its speed is also extremely fast, but the resolution is limited to 1200dpi which is more than enough for me.

Maybe an Epson 4490 with a document feeder but since you really haven't answered the previous requests for detailed information in regard to what you plan to scan and then how you plan to use its output, nobody can really give you a well targeted answer. It all depends on your particular situation.
