Screen problem

I picked up a dell latitude xz133 at a garage sale for almost nothing knowing that the scree was bad. When you start it up the logo is barely a shadow mark and is gone. It works fine if I hook it up to a monitor. I'm semi handy and bought it with the intention of learning to fix thing. What does it sound like...inverter, screen ? Thank you.....Cathe
