This is Weird. Until yesterday, my old 1.44MB floppy worked flawlessly. Not it doesn't. In the Device Manager, it has the familliar yellow !. The Error: Something about Windows not being able to load the drivers for this device (Code 31). What the Hell is wrong? The Floppy controller is working fine. The Drive works, (I booted of it) And what is Code 31? Thanks

Hey,

Disconnect your cables and reconnect them. Then remove your floppy drive in you systems panel.

Thanks for that. But if you could explain WHY that works, it would be greatly appriciated.

Hey,

I can't explain why it would stip working. Unless somehow your system hardware go reconfigured it should run fine. Taking everything out and putting it in again should let the system re-detect it.

Error 31 is not serious and just means that the device driver was not successfully unloaded. To avoid a collision, W2K will not load another instance of the same object and an error 31 results. A restart will fix the problem.
