If it was simply deleted you may have had a chance to restore it.. but as its been over written, im sorry for your lose.

Unless you wish to fork out £3000 (or what ever currency you use) and get the hard drive striped professionally =/

theres a 20gb file size limit on pst files

so unless you configured it to allow more than 20gb thats your problem

it may have started a new pst file and your old file may still be there as well

manually search for the pst file

if you cant find it try system restore to go back to just before it hit 20gb if you have it turned on

edit--to find your pst files on windows 7 go to start--search and type in

%localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook\

or on xp

%appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook\

Have you tried a system wide search for files of type .pst? File's don't simply disappear. You should have changed over to Thunderbird long before that file grew so big!

they can disappear if they have been overwritten by the system creating the file, then there'd be no recycle bin entry as well.

Some disk recovery software might let you see it, but you'd have have killed the system quickly so that it didn't get corrupted.

The file didn't just disapear, I unintensially deleted it and pressed ok when et stated it was to big for the recycle bin... It's quite a disaster!

llok for some file recovery software as what you have described is more fixable than other circumstances providing you have not been using the disk a lot and had that empty space recycled.

do you have system restore turned on?

if not when you use a data recovery software then specify files over 18gb or so at least you wont have a big list

of files to look through

If you deleted it and it said too big the the recycle bin then put a 0kb file where it was, it wouldnt be written in the same sectors on the disk, most likley. Some good software should read it, I have had luck with EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard However to recover more than 1GB requires it be bought, but you can see if it will find it!
Best of luck

Hi :)

If you are going to use any software to try and recover it....TURN THE MACHINE OFF UNTIL YOU DO....

All the best Brett :)

The overwritten files or data can not be retrieved by any of the data recovery software.

If you use windows 7,
right click (the folder) ------> Properties ------> Previous versions ------> select the one closest to the date it was deleted ------> click restore
Voila happy days for you you just restored your lost file :D

There's no need to pay for any dubious whizzy tool recommended by a one-post opportunist, enough free advice having already been given.
