I have been trying to repair my acer travelmate laptop. I did the Erecovery and it went through the whole process but when I restarted it still kept taking me to the screen asking if I want to start windows in safe mode, last known configuration, etc. Nothing happens when I choose any of them except last known good configuration. It says that a windows 32 something file is missing. Can anyone help me?

Being a current Acer owner, I know the feeling. Their nice parts and high performance at the price come with a downside, they're not extremely reliable. I was playing NFSMW (need for speed most wanted) on battery and it died (about a year ago). When ever I tried to start it after that, it gave me the same error message. There is now way around it (that works that I could find and I spent hours)... So here's what I did. I went and picked up a Win Vista Home Premium from my office, I then booted from the disk and backed up everything on the C : / drive to an external backup drive. Then re-installed the OS and started over. I suggest removing the Empowering technology because it really is just bloatware and may be the cause of bugs like these. I haven't had Empowering Tech. on my computer for over a year and it runs great still. (overclocked from 1.6 ghz to 2.0 and gpu overclocked from 300mhz to 400mhz stable). (battery life is down to 17 minutes though :) )

If you need any other help, ask, message me or just post here again I'd be glad to help out in any of the steps of this repair.

Hi,

Can you help me with getting my travelmate 2420 working? I don't have any of the recovery disks on hand since I'm travelling. I was able to borrow a friends XP home from her DEll and am here online now. went to the acer site to downlaod some drivers(not that i even really know what these are) and got the screen image sharper and the sound effects working. At the momment my only conection to internet is via a modem. what can i do so that the wireless connect works for me again. really this is my MAIN concern.

Thanks in advance
