hey guys. my computer has been a nightmare for a while now. basically on startup it would randomly reset or give me a bluescreen. then when i finally got it going it would reset itself at some point as well. even in safe mode it reboots while starting up

i thought maybe windows was just jacked (running 2kpro) so i refomrated my partition and reinstalled it.. the process seemed to go fine but when i took the cd out and let it reboot it gave me the familiar bluescreen >_<x im really not sure what the problem is my guess is memory or something because if it was windows the reinstall should have fixed it right?

im using a p 4 2.8ghz, with a gig of kingston 3200 ram. im hoping its not the ram because it was like 300 bucks when i bought it a year ago, but i dont know what else to try

heres the message i get. does anyone know if its the ram or a way to test the ram? if not what else could it be?

Wait. the new msg is different than the old one.. this is the old message:

*** Stop: 0x0000001e (0x80000004, 0x8046b2c8, 0xb3981000, 0xb3982000) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED *** Address 8046b2c8 base at 804000000, datestamp 403d35e2 -ntoskml.exe

If this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps. Check to be sure you have adequtet disk space. IF a driver is identified in the stop msg. disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. try changing video adapter. check with your hardware vendor for any bios updates. disable bios memory options such as caching or shadows. if you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your comp. press f8 to select adv startup then select safe mode

-------------------
and this is the new one

*** STOP: 0c00000050 (0e9beef8e, 0x00000001, 0x84f3677, 0x00000002) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

***Address 804f3677 base at 80400000, datestamp 3ad77869- ntoskrnl.exe

if this is the first time seeeing this stop..blabla bla follow these steps

check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed if this is a new instalation ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any win 2k updates you might need.

if problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing.

Download and run Memtest86, a free bootable proggie (doesn't operate under windoze) to check out ram. It'll keep looping, so let it run overnight.

Get it here <A HREF="http://www.memtest86.com/#commands" target="_new">http://www.memtest86.com/#commands</A>

BTW, doesn't Kingston have a lifetime warranty?

Looks like memory errors. Check your BIOS and make sure your power supply is providing stable juice. Re-seat the ram and turn the voltage up to 2.7v. Then run memtest86

PM me and I'll get you their 800 #. They are the best at warranty service I've run across. They even pay the return shipping if the units are defective.

Hey. I just ran MemTest 3.0 and i had 2 errors. My computer is only a few days old. And i have 2 identical Corsair Value Select memory (2x512MB). I havent clocked them. I havent had any problems running programs so far. But I've had 2 random boots.
What could have caused these errors? Is this normal?

Add a little voltage to the ram? Don't run them so agressively, "Loosen up" the BIOS setting for memory timing.

definitely a memory problem.

just had same problems with ASUS P5P800 mobo and Kingston HyperX PC3200. i haven't played with voltages yet, but incresing the CAS latency got rid of all errors.

memtest86 all the way. tiny download, burn to a cd and boot off it. it will let you play inside the shell and figure out exactly what is wrong. probably just memory not configured correctly.
