AOM GOLD doesn't even start

Just [re]installed AOM Gold, but it still won't start.
It seems the movieplayer keeps getting stuck and nothing works
after that. Reboot is necessary.

The safe video mode also doesn't work eventhough I updated
my NVIDIA drivers. My pc meets all the sys requirements, so
what do I do now?

try running in in compatability mode.
